STL INSPECTION

Inspect the STL Before You Print

STL files do not store texture or material appearance in the same way as GLB. The viewer focuses on mesh geometry.
01 / FOCUS

Dimensions

Read the model-space bounding size before choosing print scale.

02 / FOCUS

Triangle mesh

Inspect silhouette and surface density without material distractions.

03 / FOCUS

Print handoff

Continue to mesh repair when geometry needs a pre-slicer check.

PRINT DECISION LAB

View an STL File Online, Then Set the Print Handoff

Use the interactive scale planner to see why STL dimensions need an explicit unit and a deliberate target size before slicing.
Sample longest dimension: 84 model units

Resolve STL scale before slicing

STL stores coordinates but not a dependable real-world unit label. Choose how the source was authored, then set the longest target dimension.

Can I view a STL file online without installing software?

Yes. The Fomrix STL viewer is designed to open supported files directly in a modern browser so you can inspect the model without launching a desktop 3D application.

Can I rotate and zoom the model?

Yes. Use mouse or touch controls to orbit around the model, zoom in and out, and reset the camera when needed.

Does the viewer change my original file?

No. Viewing a file does not modify the original asset. Conversion or repair is handled as a separate action.

Can I use the viewer on mobile?

The interface should work on modern mobile browsers, although very large 3D files can be slower to load on devices with limited memory.

What should I do if the file does not load?

Confirm that the file extension matches the actual format, try a smaller model, and check whether external textures or related files are required. If the geometry itself is damaged, use the relevant repair workflow where available.

Can this 3D printing model viewer confirm printability?

No. It helps you inspect STL dimensions and triangle geometry, but wall thickness, orientation, supports and the final toolpath still need review in your slicer.

Why can the STL size change between applications?

STL stores numeric coordinates without a dependable unit label. Confirm whether the source was authored in millimeters, centimeters or inches before setting the final print dimensions.
